In the casino hoses, the craps game is conducted by four personnel specially appointed for this purpose – the boxman, the two base dealers and the stickman. While the boxman is the person who is in charge of the chips being played, the base dealers are engaged in making payments and collecting bets. The stickman is the final of the four casino employees who take part in the craps game and his position at the game table is right across the boxman. Whenever any player makes his bet, the stickman has the responsibility of taking the wagers and placing it in the center of the game table. The stickman in the craps game also announces the result of the play at the end of each roll of dice and he signals that a given roll of dice is over by collecting the dice with an elongated wooden stick. Another task that the stickman has to perform is to instruct the base dealers to give the winners their payouts from the bet that is accumulated at the center of the game table.

All the four casino house staff coordinate with each other to check that the payouts made to the winning players are correct. If for any reason one of the base dealers have to absent himself from the game table, it means that the gamblers can only play and put bets on one half of the table that is functional.

The shooter in a craps game is required by the dealers to roll the dice using only one hand and such that the dice would bounce off the farther side of the wall surrounding the game table. This prevent cheating techniques like switching the dice or controlled rolling. If a die falls of the game table, either the shooter must select a new one from the remaining three (two out of five were originally selected) or the same die may be used in play if the boxman approves. This is done to prevent use of loaded dice.

A very significant form of line bets offered in a game of craps to the players is the pas odds wager. So, if a point is established by the shooter on the ‘come out roll’ by reaching any of the numbers of 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10, the player who has staked the pass line bet is allowed by almost all casino houses to place odds at generally one to five times of the pass line wager and this new bet is kept behind the pass line wager. Some casino house, however, offer very high stakes of 100 times the value of the pas line bet size. This extra bet can be won by than player if after making a point he rolls that point again before rolling out a 7. If the point that is established is 4 or 10, the player wins at 2-to-1 odds, if the point is 5 or 9, the winning odds are paid at 3-to-2 and if the player has establishes a point of 6 or 8, he gets a payout at 6-5 odds.

This can be explained by an illustration of the situation. So, if a player has betted $20 as his pass line bet, then he is entitles to make a pass odds wager at $100. Now if the point he makes is 4 or 10, he will win $200, if his point turns out to be 5 or 9, then his winnings is $150 and if his point is 6 or 8, the player wins $120. So it is seen that for the player making a point of 4 or 10 is most advantageous and profitable when he is placing a wager on the pass odds. However, it must be remembered that the winnings of the player in the pass odds wager is above and beyond the pass line bet he had made on which he wins separately.

Craps is a gambling game where all the participating players get the scope of making several bets for each round of play and also for each roll of the dice. The most significant bets in a craps game are regarding how the round of play will conclude – when a point is established and rolled out by the shooter or when a 7 out situation happens. Some other kinds of bets that also happen during the craps game include wagering on a particular total being rolled out or whether the specific number will be rolled out before a 7 or not. Moreover there are some side bets that can be made by craps players along with the principal wagers. In casino houses specially built craps game tables are used in the game where the participating players can lay their wagers in the form of chips.

A typical game of craps played in the casino requires the involvement of more than one house staff to conduct the game from start to finish. This is significant because no participating player can take up the dual role of being a gambler and a conductor of the game and the play is supervised and run entirely by specialized personnel appointed by the casinos for this purpose. One such casino employee who is involved in the craps game is the boxman. The responsibilities of the boxman include watching over the chips and coloring out for the players, that is, exchange smaller denomination chips and handing out equivalent amount of larger value chips. The boxman is also required to perform the task of supervising the two dealers who are positioned on either side of him. Also called the base dealers, their job during the craps game is to collect all the bets made by the participating players and make payment accordingly to the winners and take away the wager made by the losing gamblers.

The shooter after choosing two out of the possible five dice offered to him at start of the game, rolls out the dice and strikes any of the possible eleven counts. In case the shooter’s ‘come out roll’ turns out to be either 2, 3 or 12 the situation is called ‘craps’ and the game round gets over with the player losing the wager made on the pass line. The ‘come out roll’ will go on being played till a point has been established. If the ‘come out roll’ is 7 or 11 the situation is called ‘natural’ and anyone ho has staked on pass line wins and those who betted on the don’t pass line, loses the wagers. The shooter must continue with the ‘come out roll’ till a point has been made. When the ‘come out roll’ ends up at the numbers 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10, that number becomes the point and the ‘come out roll’ stage of the game ends.

Once the point has been established, the casino dealers place a puck or an on button on that number so that all the participating players at the game table know it. The shooter gets the chance of rolling the dice continuously until the point or a 7 is rolled. If the shooter manages to roll out the point, anyone who made the pass line bets wins his wager while those who betted on the don’t pas line will lose. If the 7 is rolled the situation is called a ‘natural out’ and now the players with a pass line bet lose the wager which is won by them who had staked on the don’t pass line. When the 7 out situation occurs, it means that the current shooter’s play in the craps game has come to an end and the dice is passed over to the next player who wishes to act as the shooter.

The concept of playing a game of craps against the bank is that the game is played against the casino house itself. Either one or more players can involve in a game of bank craps. The casino house covers the bet amount that is wagered by all the players at the game table and formulates the winning odds of the payout to the victorious player(s). Each player gets his turn of rolling to dice and the player who is rolling the dice is known as the shooter. The rest of the participating gamblers can place wagers on the outcome of the shooter’s dice rolls. A game of craps can continue for several rounds and each round begins with the opening rollout of the dice, which is called the ‘come out roll’. The second round gets resolved either when a point or a 7 is rolled.

The game starts when a player intends to make a point as the shooter. He is required to stake a minimum bet amount as regulated by the game table on either of the two lines – Pass or Don’t Pass. In some games of craps, these are alternatively known as the Win or Don’t Win wagers as regards to the result of the shooter’s round of play. This is followed by one of the casino house staff involved with the conduct of play and called the stickman presenting the shooter with a choice of five dice from which the player selects two. There are eleven possible counts of number that can be rolled from the coordinates of six – 2 (1-1), 3 (1-2 or 2-1), 4 (2-2, 1-3 or 3-1), 5 (1-4, 2-3, 3-2 or 4-1), 6 (3-3, 1-5, 2-4, 4-2 or 5-1), 7 (1-6, 2-5, 3-4, 4-3, 5-2 or 6-1), 8 (4-4, 2-6, 3-5, 5-3 or 6-2), 9 (3-6, 4-5, 5-4 or 6-3), 10 (5-5, 4-6 or 6-4), 11 (5-6 or 6-5) and 12 (6-6).
