Craps V
October 1st, 2008In the casino hoses, the craps game is conducted by four personnel specially appointed for this purpose – the boxman, the two base dealers and the stickman. While the boxman is the person who is in charge of the chips being played, the base dealers are engaged in making payments and collecting bets. The stickman is the final of the four casino employees who take part in the craps game and his position at the game table is right across the boxman. Whenever any player makes his bet, the stickman has the responsibility of taking the wagers and placing it in the center of the game table. The stickman in the craps game also announces the result of the play at the end of each roll of dice and he signals that a given roll of dice is over by collecting the dice with an elongated wooden stick. Another task that the stickman has to perform is to instruct the base dealers to give the winners their payouts from the bet that is accumulated at the center of the game table.
All the four casino house staff coordinate with each other to check that the payouts made to the winning players are correct. If for any reason one of the base dealers have to absent himself from the game table, it means that the gamblers can only play and put bets on one half of the table that is functional.
The shooter in a craps game is required by the dealers to roll the dice using only one hand and such that the dice would bounce off the farther side of the wall surrounding the game table. This prevent cheating techniques like switching the dice or controlled rolling. If a die falls of the game table, either the shooter must select a new one from the remaining three (two out of five were originally selected) or the same die may be used in play if the boxman approves. This is done to prevent use of loaded dice.
